COVID-19

Our Dedication to COVID-19 Resolution

We are closely monitoring the latest developments regarding COVID-19 by maintaining the following standards, which remain consistent with the CDC’s current health safety practices:

  1. If our caregivers are assigned to any client with a diagnosis of COVID-19 or in a high-risk household, we make it our top priority that they are protected by assuring that they have the necessary PPE such as face masks, isolation gowns, eye protection, and gloves.
  2. Caregivers are not dispatched when ill and are requested to stay home if there is any question about their health status.
  3. We assess any known risk factors, such as their travel to areas with widespread outbreaks or local contact in areas known to have reported cases. We advise our caregivers not to report to work if they are deemed high-risk.

We continuously assess that careful attention is paid to established infection prevention measures. These practices are consistent with our existing standards for influenza and all other infectious diseases, which include:

  • (a)  Washing hands often with soap and water or alcohol-based hand sanitizer
  • (b) Avoid touching eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands
  • (c) Avoiding close contact with people who are sick
  • (d) Covering mouths and noses with a tissue if coughing or sneezing
  • (e) Cleaning and disinfecting objects and surfaces.

At this time, the CDC does recommend home-based caregivers wear masks or respirators if non-symptomatic; however, given this is an emerging issue, we will adjust if needed.  Caregivers have been counseled to remain attentive to new or changing symptoms in your family member and respond accordingly by taking infection prevention measures. They are also to notify the office of any concerns immediately. As a healthcare community, we are here for you; we remain certain that we can all get through this together!
